Booking flights - think leg room!
Flying can be pretty uncomfortable – even painful – for people with haemophilia, because of the restricted leg room on most aircraft. However, even if you are flying on a budget, there are one or two things you can do before you travel to try and increase the amount of leg room you have and therefore improve your overall level of comfort. Here are some suggestions:
- Read the ‘Guide to Booking the Best Airline Seats’ pages at www.seatguru.com
- Try and pre-book an aisle seat whenever you can.
- Checking in on-line can give you a chance to select your seat ahead of the masses.
- Consider joining a frequent flyer club.
- Search the internet for ‘premium economy’ or ‘business economy’ seats – they are not always a lot more expensive than economy seats.
- Present your case for a seat with extra leg room at the time of booking your flight or checking in (have your doctor's letter with you at check-in).
- Maximise your chances of being upgraded at check-in by dressing smartly.
