Infancy
Babies born with haemophilia should not be treated any differently to other babies. As with other newborns, they should be handled gently and lovingly and have access to a good family doctor.

Being registered with a nearby haemophilia centre will enable access to expert advice on specific issues likely to affect a young infant, including teething, immunisation, childhood infections, how to deal with bumps and bruises when they occur, and how to prevent more serious injury.
Parents should ensure they understand their child’s diagnosis, and joining The Haemophilia Society can provide invaluable support to families at this stage in a child’s life.
